First Annual Undy 500 - October 18, 2009 - Charleston, SC

The Cause

100% of the proceeds go to support the Annual Stand Down Against Homelessness Event and Goodwill's homeless veterans program, Operation Independence.

Stand DownStand Down Against Homelessness: Each year, Goodwill partners with the local VA to provide homeless and struggling veterans with free products and resources to help get them back on their feet. During the two day event, the "Stand Down" provides individuals in our community an opportunity to find out about employment in the area, medical and dental care, benefits to Veterans and their families, presents people with the chance to register to vote, allows one to shop for free clothing and blankets, feeds over 3,000 meals for breakfast and dinner, and offers haircuts to those that may not be able to afford that service. In addition, each participant in the "Stand Down" will receive food and hygiene packets while at the event.

American FlagOperation Independence: Goodwill provides training and employability skills and supportive services to homeless veterans through Operation Independence. This program provides opportunities for homeless veterans to acquire skills that will help them regain self-sufficiency and economic independence.
